Obituary

William "Red" Walters 84 was born in a log cabin in Falling Springs, MO to Raymond and Mable Walters. He met his wife Catherine at Alton High School. Red joined the Army as a Medic after graduating from high school. After his military service he returned to St. Louis and became a union carpenter and where Red and Catherine raised their three daughters. They moved to Springfield in 1972, where he began to build houses and was well known for his craftsmanship. Red enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Harold Walters, Richard Walters and Marcella Bowman. Red is survived by his wife Catherine, children Dale Peer and husband Arnold Borenstein, Tammy Strickland, Linda Settles and husband Angelo, five grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 14th from 10:30 to 12:30 at Klingner-Cope Rivermonte Chapel, 4500 S. Lone Pine followed by a graveside service at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 1 p.m.

Family has requested in lieu of flowers donations be made in Red''s name to The Kitchen, 1630 N. Jefferson Ave., Springfield, MO 65803.
