IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Edward
Stoecker
July 7, 1927 – June 17, 2020
William (Bill) Edward Stoecker, age 92, passed away peacefully in his home after a short illness on June 17, 2020.
Bill was born in Waverly, Missouri on July 7, 1927, to William Henry and Mary Ida (Meyer) Stoecker. He was the baby of the family, the youngest of six children. He attended school in Waverly, and then joined the Army and served as a medic in Germany and France, from 1945 to 1947. He then went on to work various construction jobs in Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma, and became a co-founder and co-owner of Storee Construction Company in Springfield, MO in 1966. This was also the year he married Wanda, on November 18, and their son Robert was born about three years later. He retired from Storee in 1992. Bill's hobbies were vegetable gardening, fixing things around the house, cooking (usually around the holidays), watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Emil J. (Red) Stoecker, Leonard Stoecker, and Ernest (Ernie) Stoecker, sisters Irene Rea and Margaret Reed, and stepson Randall Huey. He is survived by his wife Wanda, son Robert (and wife Jenny), stepson Rick Huey (and wife Ann), stepdaughter Betty (and husband Don), grandchildren Jake Stoecker, Jeremy Huey, Misty Parker, Andrea Bradshaw, and Wendy Sanders, many nieces and nephews, and numerous other great- and great-great-grandchildren (to whom he was affectionately known as Papa Bull).
Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 29, 2020 at 3 PM at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Rd, Springfield, MO. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
