William "Bill" Edward Henderson, 94, of Springfield, passed away peacefully with family by his side on April 5, 2016. Bill was born in Ozark, MO to James and Mae Henderson on April 20, 1921.
Bill married the love of his life Kathleen (Manis) on September 8, 1940 and celebrated 68 years of marriage before her passing in September, 2008. He was a WWII Veteran, and served as a Second Class Quartermaster on a supply ship in the U.S. Navy. Bill was a self-employed painter and wallpaper hanger, working for both individuals and some well-known home builders in the Springfield area. He was an avid fisherman for many years until his health prevented him from doing so.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Kathleen, brother; Floyd and Clyde, sisters; Jessie and Irene, son Mark Edward Henderson, and grand-daughter-in-law Sandra Jean (keightley) Stever. He survived by daughter, Judy and husband Bill Stever; son, Don and wife Madeline; son, Dab and wife Sharon, 7 grand-children: Greg Stever, Sandy (Clint) Johnson, Chris, Brad, Jeff, Brian (Perri) Henderson, and Jill (Josiah) Loven; as well as 11 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 11, 2016 from 1-2 pm at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte Chapel. Services will follow at 2pm. Internment will be at MO Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The American Heart Association.
