Obituary

William "Bill" Howell Fesperman, age 86, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on December 22, 2025, in Springfield, following a brief and courageous battle with his health.

Bill was born on June 17, 1939, in Springfield, Missouri, to Melvin Howell Fesperman and Sarah Louise (Johnson) Fesperman. He was raised in Springfield, where he attended Rountree Elementary School, graduated from Greenwood High School, and later attended Southwest Missouri State University.

After high school, Bill married Karen Bowser, now Karen Fesperman. Together they welcomed two sons, Brent and Bart. As Bill began his career with General Tire, the family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he served as a store manager.

Bill later met and married Trina Fesperman. Together they made their home in Bristow, Oklahoma, where they raised Trina's son, Lynn with frequent visits from Brent and Bart.  During these years, Bill continued to build a successful career in sales and entrepreneurship and became well known in the Bristow community.

While living in Bristow, Bill opened and operated a Daylight Donuts shop and diner that became a favorite local hangout for breakfast and lunch. He valued the relationships he built with customers and neighbors and took pride in being part of the community. Over the years, Bill's family expanded with the marriage of Lynn to Susan (Kelly), Brent to Renee (Diehl) and Bart to Lea Ann (Groner).

In later years, Bill returned to Springfield, where he continued a long and successful sales career with several automobile dealerships, Sears, and Lowe's. While at Sears, he earned membership in the $1 Million Dollar Sales Club after selling over $1 million in appliances in a single year. He retired from Lowe's in Springfield, where he worked in appliance sales and built lasting friendships with coworkers and customers alike. Bill was also the longtime owner of Wild Bill's Convenience Store in Reeds Spring, Missouri, a business he especially enjoyed because it allowed him to do what he loved most, being around people and part of a community.

Bill proudly served in the Missouri National Guard.

He was an avid golfer and took great pride in regularly competing against all three of his sons on the course. In his younger years, he was a talented tennis player in Bristow, earning the nickname "Spider-Man" for his reach and court coverage. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Above all, Bill cherished watching his grandchildren compete in sports, rarely missing an opportunity to support them from the sidelines.

Bill was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield and faithfully attended Tuesday morning Bible study led by the Rev. Micki Pulley-King. He was known for his sense of humor, quick wit, and memorable stories, often shared at the expense of one of his sons.

Bill is survived by his children: Brent Fesperman and wife Renee of Rogersville, Missouri; Bart Fesperman and wife Lea Ann of Phoenix, Arizona; and Lynn Fesperman and wife Kerry of Tulsa, Oklahoma; He is also survived by his grandchildren: Landon and Landry Fesperman of Rogersville; Logan, Dylan, and Ryan Fesperman of Phoenix; and Payton Fesperman of Tulsa. Bill also leaves behind many longtime friends and acquaintances who were touched his warmth, humor, and genuine interest in others.
