William "Bill" X. Bacon, 62, passed away Friday, September 4, 2015 in Fair Grove, Missouri. The son of Roy L Bacon and Eva L. (Ellison) Bacon-Jones, he was born October 4, 1952 in Springfield, Missouri.
Bill went to grade school at St. Joe then moved to Fair Grove for high school. That is where he grew up working on a farm and became very good at sports. In high school he was a track star, held the school record in pole volt for many years, and went to state his Jr and Sr years. He also lead the basketball team to the state championship game. After high school he got a job at Rayco as a mechanic where he worked for about 26 or so years and then worked at Carlyle for about 8 to 10 years.
In his younger days he loved to race motor cross and flat track dirt bike motorcycles. Then as he got older he got a Harley that he loved to cruise around on. Bill also loved the outdoors where he was blessed with many trophy deer and fish. Bill also took pride in the home and property he designed himself. He was deeply loved by all his family where he will never be forgotten. Bill grew up catholic. He didn't always got to church, but always loved God and is now in God's hands.
Preceding him in death were his father, Leroy Bacon; mother and step-father, Eva and Burley F. Jones; infant brother, Marian and sisters, Phyllis Burton, Patricia Stout and Mary Baker.
Bill is survived by his brothers, Jim Bacon and wife Sue, Greg Bacon and wife Carolyn, Joe Bacon, David Bacon and Richard Bacon and wife Karen; sisters, Bonnie Armstrong and husband Chuck, Grace Walsh and husband John and many nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, September 13, 2015 from 5-7 pm in Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine, Springfield, MO. Funeral Services will be Monday, September, 14th at at 11 A.M. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2818 E. Bennett, Springfield, MO. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fair Grove, Missouri.
