William "Bill" Battenberg, of Springfield, was born on September 13, 1929 and passed away on April 30, 2014 at the age of 84.

He married his best friend Betty Johnson on September 13, 1959 which was Bill''s 30th birthday. They were married for 54 years. He was in masonry construction for over 25 years. He owned his own general construction company for 7 years before retirement. Bill was a Shriner and played in the Shrine Band. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and received his 50 year pen. Bill was a member of the Christian Church. One of his loves was a Bible Study that he joined many years ago and is still active today.

Surviving is his wife, Betty; 2 daughters, Kathy VanZandt and Sherry Sullens; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Pat Breckner and Shirley Patton and a host of family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 12-12:45 PM at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W State Hwy EE (Division), Springfield, MO. Graveside service will follow at 1:00 pm in White Chapel Memorial Gardens with Reverend Paula Hoer officiating.
