Wayne E. Sproule, 79, departed earthly life Saturday, August 22, 2015 in his home from complications of Parkinson''s. He was born on December 17, 1935 to Cyrus and Mildred (Wachter) Sproule in Galena, Illinois. Wayne graduated from Galena High School in 1953. He married Virginia Beckett in 1954 and they shared nearly 61 years of marriage.
Wayne served in the Army at Fort Leonard Wood from 1958-1960. He and Virginia moved to Springfield in 1963 and they became members of Messiah Lutheran Church.
Wayne worked at Springfield Auto Works prior to joining State Farm Insurance in 1969. He began as a Claims Adjustor, became a Re-Inspector, and at the time of his retirement, he was a Property Claims Trainer. Wayne retired from State Farm in 1998 after nearly 30 years of service.
Wayne always loved restoring cars. He often rebuilt and drove classic cars throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed attending classic car shows, watching NASCAR races, and spending time with his family. Wayne will be remembered as a kind and easy-going man who never met a stranger.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Raymond. He is survived by his wife, Virginia, children Victoria R. Kurre (Eric), and Jonathan W. Sproule; and five grandchildren: Chancellor, Makenzie, Brighton, Tenley, and Beckett. He is also survived by a sister Genevieve Wienen and a brother Ronald Sproule, both of Galena, Illinois.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 26th from 5:00-7:00pm at Rivermonte Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 27 at 10:00am at Rivermonte Chapel, 4500 S. Lone Pine Avenue, Springfield, Missouri.
