Obituary

Wayne Lee Lillard was born on March 7, 1956, to Anna Belle Marie Lillard and John Albert Lillard in Springfield, Missouri. He passed peacefully into his final destination—Heaven—on February 19, 2026, at 12:02 p.m. at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by his closest friends and family.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; his nephew Larry Lillard; his in-laws; two brothers-in-law; and his sons, John and Daniel Lillard.

He is survived by two sisters, one brother, six brothers-in-law, and three sisters-in-law.

Wayne married the love of his life, Connie Darleen Lillard, on February 14, 1973 in Springfield, Missouri. Shortly thereafter, their family grew and became the center of Wayne's world. His children include Raymond and Kristy Lillard; John and Rebecca Lillard; Tiena and Mack Dinwiddie Christina Lillard and Greg Smith; Dianna Lillard; David Lillard; Wayne Lillard; and Daniel Lillard.

At just 15 years old, Wayne took over his father's plumbing business, J.A. Lillard Sewer Service, where he built a reputation for integrity and hard work. Many customers affectionately knew him as "Honest Eyes." While plumbing was his profession, Wayne was so much more—a devoted husband, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather. Of all the titles he held, his favorite was undoubtedly "Palpa." Wayne was
blessed with twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. He cherished attending their sporting events and spent many evenings coaching basketball and football during his children's teenage years.

Known as the neighborhood's number- one watchdog, Wayne could often be found in the mornings sitting on the porch with his good friend Ronnie, enjoying a cup of coffee and good conversation. Wayne's fondest memories were made with his family, especially during holidays and gatherings. When he wasn't working or spending time with loved ones, he enjoyed racing, hunting, and fishing—he truly never wasted a day.

Wayne played an important role in the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Though he is gone, his legacy, love, and memories will live on forever.
