Obituary

Virginia Bernice (Thomas) Bedell, 90, formerly of Springfield, died Friday, September 18, 2015. She was born in Quincy, Illinois on October 29, 1924, the daughter of William E. and Esther M. (Robinson) Thomas. She and Robert Bedell were married for 55 years until his death in 2000. He served in the United States Navy for 27 years and retired as chief petty officer.

Virginia was a very talented and creative daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a member of the Oak Grove Assembly of God Church. Her talents included quilting, gardening, sewing and making dolls. And she was an immaculate housekeeper. She was also a beloved mother and grandmother. Professionally, she was an LPN and worked in healthcare, including 15 years at Cox South Hospital.

Virginia and her family loved to spend time together at home or travelling. Arizona was a favorite destination on many trips.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Roberta Bausum; 3 grandchildren, Danny and Mark Howell and Carla Rowland; 5 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, 10 great, great-grandchildren and numerous step-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Rev. George Robert Bausum and her granddaughter, Ann Marie Barnett.

Funeral services will be at 1:00PM, on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the Klingner-Cope at Rivermonte Chapel, 4500 S. Lone Pine, with Rev. Ellis Hacker and Pastor Ron Morein officiating. Virginia's committal service will follow at 3:00PM in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.

Virginia's family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00PM on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the Klingner-Cope at Rivermonte Chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriner's Children's Hospital in St. Louis.
