Virginia Kathleen (Mammy) Friend, 88, of Springfield, Mo. Died peacefully in her home, Tuesday evening, surrounded by many family and friends. Mammy was born December 29, 1927 in Gilbert, Az. To Bill and Hattie Henson and was raised in Ocie, Mo.

She attended Forsyth high school where she graduated in 1945. She worked for many years at and retired from Lilly Tulip/Sweetheart Cup. Her biggest passions were her flowers and most importantly her family. She lived for her family get togethers.

She is preceded in death by her husband Noel Friend, her parents, Bill and Hattie Henson, brothers Kay, Ed, Harm and Earl Henson and sisters Opel Carden and Merle Friend. She is survived by her sons and daughter, Noel (Brownie) Friend and wife Cindy, Jerry Friend and wife Donna, Bettie Barnes and husband David and Vern (Les) Friend. She also has 8 grandkids, 14 great grandkids, 3 great great grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like so give a special thanks to Hospice, especially Marsha Mahnken, for their excellent care and allowing her wish, to spend her last days at home.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 29, 2016 from 5 till 7 pm at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W State Hwy EE (Division), Springfield. Service will be on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Robberson Prairie.
