Obituary

Victor Herman Rohrer entered the household of his parents Daniel Earl and Serelda Evelyn Rohrer in Maplewood, MO., (a suburb of St. Louis, MO), on June 12, 1931.  The family moved back to Bourbon, MO in 1932.

Victor departed this life heaven-bound on December 22nd, 2024 at the age of 93 at the Colonial Springs Healthcare Center in Buffalo, MO. PSALM 116:15 "Precious in the sight of the Lord, is the death of His saints."  (For to be absent from the body is to 'be" present with the Lord for all who trust/believe in Jesus!)

Victor was the second oldest of 5 boys; Daniel, Albert, Kenneth, and William.  He is preceded in death by his parents and all his brothers except Albert.  He was a member of the Assembly of God church in Springfield, MO.

As a boy he was active on his grandfather's farm and learned to fish, hunt, and trap from his Uncle Lawrence Rohrer.  Hunting and fishing would be a mainstay of his life for many decades, especially Elk hunting with his brothers, Daniel, Albert, and Kenneth in Colorado and quail hunting with his wife's father Grant Robinson and good friend Harvey Howard in Southwest, MO.

Victor attended Bourbon High School and Jefferson City Junior College where he was a standout basketball player.  After graduating from junior college, he attended Southwest Missouri State where he played basketball.  After college he was part of a semi-pro basketball team made up of former Harlem Globe Trotters.

It was at SMS where he met his wife to be, Wanna Lea Robinson.  They were united in marriage by Pastor Harold Cooper, (Wanna Lea's uncle), at the Wheaton Methodist Church in Wheaton, MO, on May 5th, 1952.  He is preceded in death by his loving wife Wanna Lea who passed into the arms of Jesus on April 5th, 2023.  They are now together again!  Absent of the body, but present with the Lord!

Victor joined the Missouri National Guard in 1951 and belonged to the 942nd Medical Clearance Company, 5th Army, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant.  After the Company's deactivation it became the 735th Ordinance Company.

In January 1955 he joined the Springfield Missouri Police Department retiring after 29 years of distinguished service.  In his retirement he stayed active serving for many years as an officer of the Springfield Police and Firefighters Retirement Association.

Victor had many other pursuits in life he excelled at; Master gardener, beekeeper, carpenter, roofer, auto mechanic, lumberjack, mule tamer, dog handler, a master dominoes player, and others.  So many times, he would be helping folks get rid of bee swarms or take out nuisance trees.  Needless to say, he led a very active life.

Victor is survived by his brother Albert Rohrer, and his wife Frances, of Sullivan, MO. Son Martin Rohrer and his wife Lynn Rohrer of Springfield, MO; daughter Marcia R. Lounmala of Moore, OK; daughter Sharon R. Baker and husband Merrit Baker of Springfield, MO.  Thirteen grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Victor will be interred, alongside his loving wife, on April 11th, 2025 at 1pm at Klingner – Cope White Chapel Cemetery 5234W. Hwy EE Springfield, MO 65802.  It will be a graveside earthly life remembrance.

I Thessalonians 4:13-18 "But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that you sorrow not, even as others that have no hope.  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even those them also which sleep in Jesus, will God bring with Him.  For this we say unto you, by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not precede them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first; Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so, we shall ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."
