Obituary

Vera Maxine (Porter) Roaseau, age 79, of Springfield, went to be with the Lord Jesus on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Vera was born October 14, 1942 in Granby, MO to Amos and Nina Porter. Vera graduated from GranbyHigh School in 1960. When Vera met her future husband Dale in 1963, he knew she was the one the good Lord provided to be his guiding light through life. They married on May 14, 1966 at the Clark Chapel of Memories in Neosho, MO. It was a special place to marry because Vera's father, an accomplished carpenter, did all of the lattice work inside of the chapel. After the wedding, the couple settled in Belleville, IL for seven months while Dale completed his tour of duty in the United States Army. On December 31, 1966, Dale and Vera moved to Denver, CO. They later moved to Parker, CO and in 1993, moved their family to Ozark, MO.

In 1967, the couple began investing in real estate by purchasing one home a month. With Vera's keen business sense, they were able to purchase 30 homes in one month. The couple were also part owners in Joplin Optical in Joplin, MO.

In 1994, they started a business in billboard advertising. Vera had a God-given talent to negotiate and close any business venture they pursued, while maintaining a low profile. Dale was always amazed at how well she managed their businesses.

Vera walked with Jesus throughout her life, being saved on July 4 as a young child. Vera's proudest accomplishments in life were her three sons and her precious grandchildren. Loving and walking with the Lord Jesus is Vera's legacy. Vera was committed to teaching her children and grandchildren to follow Jesus, reading and studying the Bible. She always gave the grandchildren puzzles, books, games and toys related to Noah's Ark. Vera also leaves behind her beloved Boston Terrier, Peggy Sue. She was an avid animal lover, loved to garden and enjoyed going to antique stores.

Vera is survived by her beloved husband Dale, sons Warner (Romy), Dane (Lynn) and Derek (Lori); grandchildren Elizabeth (Casey), Hattie, Kymberly, Joshua, and Dalton; and sister Kathryn (Wayne) Baltzell; as well nephews, Scott (Dani) Baltzell and Brad (Marti) Baltzell and a niece, Lynette (Mark) Lundquist. Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Nina Porter, sister Janyce Porter, and sister-in-law Helen Roaseau, the two who brought mom and dad together.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:7

For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee. Psalms 139:13-18
