Velda June Chaney, 72, of Springfield, MO went to be with her Savior on Monday, June 12, 2013. She was born in Marlow, OK on April 12, 1941 to Eber and Flora Wilkes.

Velda was retired from Ozark Bank where she spent many years building friendships with her fellow workers as well as with the customers. Velda was always a wonderful caring friend to many.

Her passion for Lake of the Ozarks was unmeasurable with her late husband, Tom. With that passion were the many weekends spent with her family enjoying the sunsets and the numerous boating excursions. Velda and Tom would spend days preparing for the families arrival on Friday evenings and would have smiles on there faces the entire time.

Velda''s greatest love was her family both near and far. The family reunions would begin early mornings and continue well into the night visiting with all.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Thomas Chaney; her daughter Rebecca Lynn Johnson and her siblings Bud, "Sis" and Wayne.

Velda is survived by her son James Johnson of Clever, daughter Brenda Burgess and her husband Roy of Springfield, daughter Janice Sufficool of Lebanon, step-daughter Cindy Dinkins and her husband Ed of Reno, Nevada and step-son Scott Chaney and his wife Carla of Springfield. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and many special friends.

A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2013 at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte Chapel 4500 S. Lone Pine Ave Springfield, MO with services to follow at 10:00 a.m. and burial in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
