Valera Andalee Cummins, (Val) (Lars) was born March 1, 1924 in Wentworth, MO to James and Valera (Butcher) Cummins. She was walked over to Heaven by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 8, 2012.
Val moved to Springfield in the 1940s after coming to visit her sister. She worked for 40 years at Baptist Bible College and was very proud of all the "kids she fed" in the cafeteria. Because of her years at BBC, Val had countless friends in the ministry all over the world and loved hearing updates from each of them. Val was known for her godly life and sweet spirit. Some of her fondest times were spent with her "group of friends" of 60+ years. Val also enjoyed her younger friends and felt they kept her young.
Her life''s celebration service will be held Tuesday June 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. at High Street Baptist Church, 900 N. Eastgate Road, Springfield. Immediately following the service, everyone is invited to a time of fellowship and lunch to be held at the church.
Valera will be buried later in her home town of Wentworth, MO.
