On Tuesday, January 15, 2019 Tim Thompson, beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, and uncle was called home while surrounded by his family, at the age of 61. Tim will be forever remembered by his wife, Lidya, his three daughters, Amy, Elizabeth, and Rachel, his grandchildren, Bailey and Braden, his mom Doncy, and sister Susan. Tim will also be forever remembered by his nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Tim was born on July 28th, 1957 in Granite City, IL to Alvie Thompson and Doncy Thompson (Case). He attended Stallings Elementary in Granite City, IL until the age of eight when his family moved to Wilderness, MO. He then attended Alton Schools and graduated from West Plains High School. After graduating he moved and spent the rest of his life in Springfield, MO. He continued his education at Southwest Missouri State University and received a Bachelor of Science, Human Resource Management/Business Administration.
Tim had a passion for the outdoors, hunting in particular. He enjoyed hunting locally and was blessed to also attend several hunting trips throughout the country. He was very active in the local community and had a heart to bless others. He was active in the Rotary Club of Springfield North, a Freemason with the Bolivar Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shriners. Family was also a big part of his life. He was sure to attend family get-togethers and as many of his grandchildren's musical performances and sporting events as time and physical ability allowed. He instilled in his children and grandchildren the importance of family connection and being available any time someone calls with a need.
Tim was preceded in death by his father, Alvie Thompson, and his brothers, Randy Thompson and Johnny Thompson. He is survived by his mom, Doncy Thompson (Case), his wife Lidya Thompson (and her children Bobie Tanaka and Chiko Tanaka), his three daughters, Amy Sisco (Thompson), her husband Richard Sisco, Elizabeth Thompson, and Rachel Thompson, his two grandchildren, Bailey Sisco and Braden Sisco, his sister Susan Keeton, her husband Scott Keeton, his nephews Rance Gardner and Zane Gardner and many cousins and extended family members. Visitation will be held Monday January 21st, 2019 5pm-7pm at Klingner-Cope Rivermonte, 4500 South Lone Pine, Springfield, MO. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday January 22nd, 2019 at Wilderness Freewill Baptist Church in Wilderness, MO (Oregon County). A short visitation will be held prior to the funeral at 12pm followed by the funeral at 1pm.
