Thomas Craig Whitson, 72, of Springfield, MO, was received as an angel in heaven peacefully in his sleep on May 26, 2018. He was born September 26, 1945 in Kansas City, MO to Harry and Feroll (Clevenger) Whitson.  He was the second of four children.

After graduating high school, Tom enlisted in the Navy and served as a Medic in the Marines during the Vietnam War. It is fitting that we lost our proud Vietnam Vet on Memorial weekend. He married Margaret Simsheuser in 1967 and to this union they were blessed with two children, Tim and Michelle. The family relocated to Springfield, MO in 1981.

Tom was very active in the community; he loved running the shoe bank with The Kiwanis Club and was very proud to serve on the Springfield Traffic Advisory Board. Tom was a very loving, outgoing and social person who devoted his life to his family, his friends and his country. He will be greatly missed by all whose life had been touched by him.

Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife Margaret and a sister Colleen.

Left to mourn his passing is his son; Tim Whitson, daughter; Michelle Horbach and husband Rob; grandchildren, Trey and Max Whitson, Kaden Boyce and Megan and Maddie Horbach; brother, Dan and wife Ronda; sister, Cathy Lewis and husband Bill, and a host of nieces, nephews and countless friends.
