Thomas Dale Smith, 88, of Springfield, MO went to heaven on Monday, May 5, 2025. Thomas was born February 8, 1937 in Omaha, Nebraska to Dale and Hazel Smith. He was the oldest of three children, brother Richard and sister Susan.
He attended York College in York, Nebraska and Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas. He was a Minister for 23 years serving congregations in Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri. He also worked for Best Supply Company of Springfield for 16 years, Tom Williams machine in Aurora, MO for 2.5 years and co-owner of Flowerama in the Battlefield Mall for 7.5 years. He was an avid collector of model trains, cars and airplanes, as well as being a 25 year member of the National Railroad Association. He was known for his model train set up in his home to be seen by family and friends.
Tom married Barbara Ellen Williams on October 1, 1978. Tom and Barbara enjoyed attending the OshKosh Annual Fly In Convention in OshKosh, Wisconsin several times. They also attended many train shows where they made some lasting friendships and memories.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Hazel Smith; daughter, Cynthia Faylene Kelly; brother, Richard Lee Smith and sister, Susan Glen Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Smith; daughter, Janelle Mabe and husband, Jeff; stepson, Victor Williams and wife, Gift; stepson, Eric Williams; granddaughter, Jessica Lilly and husband, Braxton; granddaughter, Angela Williams; sister-in -law, Carlene Smith. and many other dear friends and family.
A Celebration of Tom's life will be at Klingner Cope Funeral Home Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine Ave. Springfield, MO 65804. Visitation will be Thursday, May 8 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 9 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Rivermonte Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Truth for Today - World Mission School, 2209 North Benton, Searcy, Arkansas.
