Our beloved Nan, Wanda Sue Baber, 86, of Springfield, MO made her way home to heaven on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 9:23 AM. She was born in Lutie, MO on Sunday, August 6, 1939 to Maxine Hogan and Hobert Hadley Ledbetter.

Sue married Stan Baber in 1963 and to this union, two sons were born. She became an RN after graduating high school and spent the early part of her nursing career as a school nurse in Springfield, MO. In the latter half of her professional years, she worked as a private home health care nurse. Sue’s primary love language was cooking and sharing her love of life with anyone who came into contact with her. Her laughter was infectious, her humor often unexpectedly sassy and she lived life with a servant’s heart. Sue was a long-time member of both the First Baptist Church and Ridgecrest in Springfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her eldest son Steve as well as two brothers and two sisters, Travis, Lena, Joyce and Dwight.

Sue is survived by her son Sam Baber of Austin, TX, her granddaughter Madison of Austin, TX, her grandson Zac (wife Katherine), along with their daughter Eloise of Dallas, TX.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of the Neighborhoods at Quail Creek and Phoenix Hospice for all their care, support and love of Sue.

A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine Ave., Springfield, MO 65804.
