Shirley Jean
Fouraker
January 10, 1946 – March 18, 2021
Shirley Jean (Porter) Fouraker, 75, of Willard, MO beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt and a friend to so many passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 18, 2021 after a short illness.
Shirley was born in Springfield, MO on January 10, 1946. Shirley spent her entire life in the Willard area. She graduated from Willard High and went onto Draughn Business College and then to work for Frisco Railroad as a clerk at the Frisco Bldg from1964 until 1982. She worked for Conco Quarries for a short time before returning to Burlington Northern Santa Fe where she worked in the train yards and was the first female to operate the Laraine Crane (60 ft boom crane). Shirley then retired from the Railroad in the year 2000.
Shirley was a lifetime member of Willard First Baptist Church where she served in many different capacities over her lifetime using the talents God gave her. Shirley stayed active in life with many hobbies but scrapbooking, cardmaking and cross-stitch needle point were some of her favorites. She loved spending time traveling and quality time with her family and friends. Shirley was always known for her kindness and loving smile to everyone she met.
Shirley is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Walter Robert (Bob) Fouraker; parents Ward and Lena Porter; her brother Denis Porter; her grandson Spencer Buttram and her son-in-law John Choate. She is survived by two daughters Sheryl (Jeff) Buttram, Karen Choate; two grandsons Chance and Tristen Buttram; and many many friends and extended family who loved her dearly.
Visitation is Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Willard First Baptist Church from noon-1 pm, services will be held at 1 pm at the church, and burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Shirley requested that memorial contributions be made to Willard First Baptist Building Fund, PO Box 188, Willard MO 65781. The family would like to thank Good Shepherd Hospice for the wonderful care she received in her last days and being able to let her pass in her own home
