Shirley Faith Patton, 83, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016. She was born in Griffith, Indiana on March 8, 1933, the daughter of Jacob Townsend and Florence June (Lynn) Battenberg. Shirley and Darrell Lee Patton were married and enjoyed many wonderful times together before his death on August 11, 1988.

Shirley was a caring, kind and generous person. She shared her love of sports as a player, coach and teacher, and was actively involved in many sports. Shirley was a retired accountant who loved to read and she was a member of Northside Christian Church for many years. Shirley's many friends included the Ladies Club of Glenwood Village and she loved her Seniors Group at church.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Reed and her husband, Ralph and Gala Jackson and her husband, David; son, William Patton; 6 grandchildren, Samanthia Stone and her husband, Randall, William Patton and his wife, Christina, Christopher Patton, Sarah Huchteman and her husband, Chris, Trenton Reed and Geoffrey Jackson; 8 great grandchildren; her sister, Patsy Breckner, of Willard and many, many great friends.

In addition to her husband, Darrell , Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, April Dawn Sutcliffe.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W. Hwy EE, Springfield, Missouri 65802. Burial will follow in the White Chapel Cemetery.

Shirley's family will receive friends from 10:00AM until service time on Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Shirley's family suggests memorial contributions to CARE TO LEARN, in care of the funeral home.
