Obituary

Sherman Henry Graves home going was on January 6, 2019 at the age of 96, surrounded by his family in Springfield, MO. On August 24 th , 1922 in Ashdown, Ark a baby boy was born to Will Lee Graves and Lillie Mae Matlock. Sherman was the youngest of six born to this union.

He joined the CC Camp at an early age and continued serving his country as a member of the United States Army.

Sherman married Margie Horn in 1947 and to this union five children were born. During his employment he worked at Colonial Baker and later retired from the US Postal Service. He was an active member of the Church of God and later joined Pitts Chapel United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife Margie of 70 years; parents; 3 brothers; 2 sisters; 1 son in-law Paul Toliver and 1 great grandson Amare King.

Survivors include his 5 children, Raymond (Marie) Graves, James (Christal) Graves, Joyce Toliver, Mary (John) Small and Mark (Zetta) Graves. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A visitation will be held on January 19 th , 2019 from 10:00am to 11:00am with a funeral service to follow at 11am at Deliverance Temple Church (2101 W. Chestnut Expy, Springfield, MO 65802) with a burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens (5234 W. State Highway EE Springfield, MO)
