Sam Pickens, 82, of Springfield, MO completed a life that was truly well lived and he was called from labor to reward on Saturday October 6, 2012 in his home. His family who he adored was by his side. Sam was born on September 12, 1930 in Hermanville, MS to the union of Eddie Pickens and Eva Dennis. He served 10 years in the Armed Service. He was married to the late Zoe Elaine Thompson. To this union 4 children were born. He retired from Kraft after 20 years of service. He was an active 32nd Degree Mason. He served on the board of M.W.P.H. Grand Lodge of Missouri and Jurisdiction F & A. M. He was a member of Truth Lodge #151 and he was also a member of Greater Truth Chapter #88 order of the Eastern Star, a member of the American Legion Post 639, and a member of 40 and 8. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 12th from 6-8 p.m. at Klingner-Cope Funeral Home at Rivermonte 4500 S. Lone Pine Springfield, MO 65804. General services will be held on Saturday, October 13th at 11 a.m. at Deliverance Temple Church which is located at 2101 W. Chestnut Expressway Springfield, MO 65802 with Minister Gwen Marshall officiating. The burial will be held on Monday, October 15th at 10 a.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery which is located at 5201 Farm Road 177 Springfield, MO 65804 and he will be laid to rest with full Military Honors.
