Obituary

Ruth Elizabeth Dickensheet, 86, of Springfield, passed away Monday morning, November 5, 2012. She was born April 6, 1926, to William Carl and Elizabeth Artelia Reed Holmes, at Burge Hospital in Springfield, MO. She married Maurice E. Dickensheet at Grace Methodist Church on October 27, 1949, and they were married almost 56 years.

Ruth attended Rountree Grade School and graduated from Springfield Central High School and from State Teachers College in Springfield, Missouri. Ruth taught school at Waynesville, Fair Play, and Marion C. Early at Morrisville, MO.

At 10 years old, Ruth was baptized and joined Grace United Methodist Church. Later she was a long-time member of Bolivar United Methodist Church and Mt Pisgah United Methodist Church, Springfield, MO

Survivors include five children, Barbara Dickensheet and Betty Dickensheet (and Dan) of Springfield, Milton Dickensheet (and Debbie) of Bolivar, Sally Blackwell (and Gary), of Nixa; and Lisa Roberts (and Leonard), of Pittsburg, MO; and six grandchildren, Daniel (and Courtney), Matt, Rachel, and Lydia Dickensheet and Michael and Kyle Roberts. She is also survived by sisters-in-laws, Mary Lou Mayfield, Ruth Ellen Deckard, and Vera Holmes and a brother Dr. David Holmes and wife Phyllis, as well as nieces and nephews, cousins, caregivers, and many friends.

Mrs. Dickensheet was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers John (and wife Merle) and Danny, and her brother-in-law George (and wife Janis), Gerald Deckard, and Gordon Mayfield.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, November 9 at 1:00 p.m., at Klingner-Cope Funeral Home-Midtown, with burial at Eastlawn Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday evening, November 8, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
