Obituary

Roy E. Steinhoff, age 96, of Rogersville, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014. He was born on December 16, 1917, in Leon, Kansas, the son of Jess and Nellie (Martin) Steinhoff. The family moved to the Springfield area in 1959. His career ranged from a salesman in the auto industry to real estate sales. He loved to spend his spare time with family. When he had time or money his greatest joy was sharing it with family. He was there through joyous times as well as tough times.
On December 1, 1945 he and Nancy Lee Remy were united in marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Nancy of 47 years, and his sister, Delma Sampson.
Survivors include: His five children, Diane Bogle and husband Jerry, Del Steinhoff, Doug Steinhoff and wife Maureen, Shirley Keller and husband Rick, Debra Steinhoff, his sister Wanda King and husband Eddie, along with family members in Kansas, numerous family members in California, not to forget the many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren who are too numerous to count.
Roy was proud to be a recovering alcoholic with over 50 years of sobriety. He will be greatly missed, but always loved.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29th from 5-7 p.m. at Klingner-Cope Chapel at Rivermonte with funeral service on May 30th at 2 pm. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Giggleboxes Project at 701 S. Kentwood Ave., Springfield, MO 65802 or make donations online at www.giggleboxes.org.
