Obituary

Rose Ann (Grandma Rosie) Edwards, 85 left this earth peacefully but unexpectedly on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 8:15 p.m. and entered her eternal heavenly home to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Victor and Lena Zongker; sister, Wilma Henry and brother-in-law, James Smith. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Charlotte McMillen of Castle Rock, CO; son, Jeff McMillen of Loch Lloyd, MO; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Mike Fraker of Rogersville, MO; sister, Freda Smith of Prairie Village, KS; brother and sister-in-law, John Roy and Ann Zongker of Northview, MO; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and John Boschen of Springfield, MO; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends that loved her dearly.
Rose Ann was born in Everton, MO on July 27, 1930 but lived most of her life in Springfield. She graduated from Springfield High with the class of 1947, one year early because she skipped the 3rd grade after "doing her own work and the work of the other children who needed her help". She was employed with the Springfield Stockyards before going to work for the IBEW local 0453 and still kept up with her desire to help others by making sure she knew the names and faces of every union member to be a true "right-hand" to her boss, Jack F. Moore (even though we all know she was left-handed).
Rose Ann''s family and friends were very important to her. She never missed sending a birthday card or honoring a new baby with a New Testament and a silver eagle dollar. She loved giving out her famous black raspberry jelly.
She served lovingly as an Ozark''s Literacy Council volunteer and as a volunteer for many years at Cox Hospital. She oversaw the scholarship fund at CoxHealth created in the memory of her mother.
Rose Ann became a Christian at age 11 and faithfully served her Lord as a member of High Street Baptist Church where her services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2015 in the chapel. A gathering time for family and friends will follow the service in the gymnasium, with a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to the Lena Zongker Scholarship Fund at the CoxHealth Foundation, 3525 S National Ave suite 204, Springfield, MO 65807.
