Rose Mary Davenport, 85, of Springfield, MO, passed away on June 9, 2022, at Cox South with her family by her side.

Rose was born on October 27, 1936, to Tom and Wilma Sims, in Springfield, MO. Rose attended Ed V. Williams and Reed Junior High School. Her formal education ended when she completed the 8th grade.

Rose had two great loves. When she was 15 years old, she married Bobby G. Luttrell, who became an Airborne Ranger. During their time in El Reno, OK, Rose spent her days drinking coffee and sewing with her best friends. She also sold Avon and was an avid collector of Mickey Mouse memorabilia. In June of 1964, Rose was blessed with a daughter, Vickie Rose.

After her marriage to Bob ended, Rose returned to Springfield and became reacquainted with her childhood friend, David L. Davenport, a retired Air Force Veteran. They were married in 1987, and this brought four stepchildren into her life. David and Rose had similar interests, like riding motorcycles and collecting Mustangs, but they were different in one important way. Rose was a devoted Democrat, while David was a Republican. Knowing this, Rose never missed an election and loved to go to the polls so she could cancel out his votes.

One of Rose's favorite pastimes was watching movies. Her fondest memory was walking with her friends across Springfield's Jefferson Avenue Footbridge to Commercial Street, where they would travel from theatre to theatre. When she was older, she enjoyed watching scary movies, like Psycho and Halloween, and even binge watched 9 seasons of The Walking Dead just to see what all the fuss was about. But when she couldn't find a suitable movie through one of her many streaming apps, she would return to her all-time favorite, The Golden Girls, where she would watch the escapades of Blanche, Rose, Dorothy, and Sophia again and again.

Rose was employed at Mexican Villa West and relocated to El Taco prior to her retirement. For over 30 years, she was a loyal employee and friend of Betty and Hargrave Ferguson, owners of Mexican Villa. Although she didn't consider it to be work, Rose also rediscovered her love for crocheting in the last months of her life and made over 40 hats for the residents and staff at the Springfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, where she resided.

Rose is survived by her daughter, Vickie Luttrell, and her husband, Don Deeds; her granddaughter, Taylor Luttrell-Deeds, and her fiancé, Simon Stanberg; one sister, Patricia A. Short; three stepdaughters, Beverly Ketel, Janice Cramer, and Teresa Lawson, and their spouses; along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

The family will have a private graveside service at White Chapel Cemetery. Donations in Rose's honor may be made to Disabled American Veterans or to any Democratic candidate running for office.
