Richard Ivan Preffitt, 90, of Springfield, MO passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon, MO. He was born on Wednesday, November 14, 1934 in Washington, DC to Ruth Adelaide Fisher and Selby Wayne Preffitt.

Richard was a foster parent for many years and served his country in the US Army as a MP. He was a volunteer firefighter and worked as manager in the baking industry. Richard enjoyed woodworking, NASCAR and spending time with friends and family at the cabin by the lake. He also had a love for European sports cars, Westerns and Military movies.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Joanne.

He is survived by Nancy, his wife of 65 years, one son David (wife Kathy), one daughter Elizabeth, two sisters Mary and Kitty, one brother Stephan, four grandchildren Tyler, Afton, Stasha and Brandon and three great-grandchildren Will, Roman and Maya.
