Richard Eugene Bonham, 92, of Springfield, MO passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Turners Rock. He was born on Thursday, November 13, 1930 in Springfield, MO to Helen Cummins and Eugene M. Bonham.

Richard married Joyce Voss Bonham and to this union two children were born. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage until her passing in October of 2011. He began his career as a High School Basketball coach and teacher in Russelville, Dadeville and Clever. Richard went on to a successful 35 year Insurance career and in the early 90's, transitioned to Banking with Charles Spangler. Even until his death he was still employed by First Independence Bank in Aurora. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church and was a lifelong golfer, fisherman and avid softball player in his younger years.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and one brother James Lee Bonham. Richard or "Earnie", had a special relationship with Nancy Waggoner. This companionship brought great happiness in their later years.

He is survived by his two children Barbara Mendoza (husband Gilbert) and David Bonham (wife Dixie) and three grandchildren Gail Gott, Madeline Bonham and Claine Bonham.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at the First Baptist Church, 525 South Ave., Springfield, MO 65806. Following cremation, he will be laid to rest at the Rivermonte Memorial Gardens at a later date and time.
