Raymond Lee Dunlap, 70, was born in Cottage Grove, TN on November 9, 1943. He was the baby child of Erma Lee House Dunlap and Earl Dunlap. He went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 15, 2013.
Raymond grew up in Murray, KY and graduated from Douglass High School. He married the former Dorothy Jean Blanton on February 13, 1966. To this union two children were born, a son, Christopher Lee Dunlap on November 17, 1973 and a daughter, Nicole Arvada Dunlap on August 10, 1981. The family relocated to Springfield, Mo in 1966 and Raymond began working at the City Utilities of Springfield in 1969 and progressed to the level of supervisor, a position he held till he retired in 2004. He was initially installed as a Deacon at the St John Baptist Church in Murray, KY and held that position thru Washington Avenue Baptist Church, Mt Olive Baptist Church and later New Hope International Ministries here in Springfield.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Surena Lee Hutchenson, Earline Henry and Adelle Dunlap; brother, James Arthur Dunlap, Sr.; nephew, Ronnie Ellis and his wife of 43 years, Dorothy Jean Dunlap.
Raymond is survived by his son, Christopher; daughter, Nicole; grandchildren, Devyne and Kesha; a devoted niece, Daffney A. Henry; niece, Peggy Hutcherson Wilson; nephews, Bobby J. Ellis, O.L. Hutcherson, Johnnie Hutcherson and James Arthur Dunlap, Jr. and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2013 from 10:00 am till 12:00 pm at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W State Hwy EE (Division), Springfield, MO. Graveside service will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
