Burger
February 16, 1931 – September 7, 2022
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Rayma Lee Daniel Burger. She passed peacefully at Mercy Hospital on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. Rayma arrived Monday, February 16, 1931 in Mt Vernon, Missouri as the firstborn and only daughter to Raymond E. and Maydelle Daniel.
She was proud to be born and raised in Mt. Vernon and often said she had an idyllic childhood. Rayma maintained her ties to the community by being a loyal, lifetime member of the Mt Vernon Alumni Association. Following graduation in 1949, she continued her education at Southwest Missouri State College, now known as Missouri State University. Rayma served as a President of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and as Assistant Editor for The Ozarko yearbook. Shortly after receiving her Bachelor's Degree, she married the love of her life, Donald Burger. After starting their family in Stillwater, OK, several moves and several children later they returned to the Springfield area where she remained until her death. Through the years, Rayma was a proud mother to five children, Grandmother to seven and Great-grandmother to five. She spent many years along with Don investing in Real Estate, owning and operating the State and Seville Hotels in downtown Springfield. Rayma also enjoyed her employment with several businesses and organizations in Springfield; Girl Scouts of America, The Little Theatre, the Daniel Company (the family business started by her father), SMS Residence Life, as well as the Taylor Health Center. She truly enjoyed traveling and was fortunate to make many trips throughout the US as well as internationally.
Rayma was preceded in death by her eldest daughter Kathryn Burger Smith, her parents R.E. and Maydelle Daniel and her former husband, Donald.
She is survived by her four children Raymond A. Burger (Susan Scherck) of Mashpee, MA, Judith Burger, Leslie Keiser (husband Steve) of Springfield, MO and Nancy Dietrich of Pensacola, FL, two brothers Ronald Daniel (wife Barbara) and Lawrence Daniel (wife Marilyn) of Sprinfield, MO, seven grandchildren Kailey Burger Ayogu (husband Nworah) of Los Angeles, CA, Wesley Newburg (wife Hannah) of Yorba Linda, CA, Andy Kessler (wife Michaela) of Springfield, MO, Cole Keiser (wife Natalie) of Oceanside, CA, Harrison Keiser (wife Vanessa) of Oceanside, CA and Brett Dietrich and Kathryn Dietrich of Pensacola, FL and five great-grandchildren Aviva Newburg, Kace and Kross Kessler and Olivia Keiser and Ezra Ayogu. Rayma was blessed with a beautiful family to love and love her back!
A service to remember and celebrate her life will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine Ave., Springfield, MO 65804. In lieu of flowers, Rayma had requested memorial donations be made to MVHS Foundation to benefit the Daniel Scholarship Fund, C/O Mid Missouri Bank, P.O.
