Ray G. Pfitzner 89, of Springfield, Missouri passed away at home on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, with family at his side. He was born December 4, 1928 in Aurora, Missouri to William and Lucille (Wilfley) Pfitzner.
Ray took the money he received for high school graduation and bought an engagement ring for his "one and only." He married Harriett A. Foxton on June 8, 1947 in Wichita, Kansas. They celebrated their marriage in Wichita in the morning then drove to Aurora, Missouri to celebrate in the afternoon. So began their life of love, adventure and road trips. Ray and Harriett lived in many places during their life together but always considered the Ozarks their home and took joy in a long happy retirement there. They were fun loving and enjoyed spending time with family and many dear friends.
Ray retired from the Photographic Department at Chrysler Proving Grounds in Chelsea, Michigan in 1987. He enjoyed his work and the friends he made there.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Harriett Pfitzner; and his parents and grandparents.
Survivors include his son, Cary Pfitzner and wife Aimee; daughter, Jeannine Myers; granddaughters, Kelli Pfitzner and Caiya Pfitzner; grandson, Eric Myers and a special friend Debbie Pfitzner.
Following Ray's wishes there will be no formal service, however an inurnment will take place on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens Mausoleum (4500 S. Lone Pine Springfield, MO) and the family welcomes anyone that would like to attend.
The family would also like to give a special thank you to Hospice Compassus and the many special care givers and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri (3161 W. Norton Road Springfield, MO 65803)
