Mr. Phillip Ray Gibson, age 82, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at his home.
Phillip was born on Monday, February 8, 1943, in Licking, Missouri to the late William Henry Gibson and Bertie Leota Fry Gibson. He was the youngest of five children. Phillip's first wife was Ann Ware and they had one son, Dewayne Ray Gibson. He then remarried his second wife, Dorothy Faye Deweese McNutt and they had three daughters. He also went to Central High School. He learned to fix cars and carpentry work from the best, his father. He was a great teacher for carpentry work and he could build anything with his hands. He loved fishing and hunting. He retired from being a self employed carpenter and a "Jack of all trades."
Phillip is survived by three daughters, Rayette and husband, Kurt York of Brighton, Missouri, Cheryl Gibson of Springfield, Missouri and Lisa and husband, Doug Bean of Havre, Montana; three grandchildren. Ben Olsen of Washington, Dustin and wife, Chassity Cheek of Springfield, Missouri and Ashley Cheek of Springfield, Missouri; three great-grandchildren. Harlee, Ayonna and Hayden Cheek all of Springfield, Missouri; two brothers, Donald and wife, Donna Gibson of Licking, Missouri and Olen and wife, Frances of Licking, Missouri; three nephews, William Jackson, Dennis Roseberry and Greg Helton; seven nieces, Devona Willis, Carol Adams, Brenda Swearengin, Rhonda Kirkwood, Karen Akers, Debbie Duquette and Barbra Gibson.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son; sisters, Mavis and husband, William Jackson and Velma Dickens.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 P.M. Monday, June 9, 2025 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3600 N. National Ave. Springfield, MO 65803 with Pastor Larry Ball officiating.
