Obituary

Paul Lee

Glenwood Springs - Paul Lee, 83, of Glenwood Springs, CO went home to be with his Lord on December 8, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born on June 6, 1935 in a farmhouse in Union Parish Louisiana to O.B and Susie (MacIntosh), both of whom never finished elementary school. He was number 11 of 13 children.

Paul grew up hoeing cotton and playing baseball. When he left for college at 16 he owned 1 book. He knew what he wanted to do with his life, which was to serve as a chaplain in the Air Force. When he retired as a Colonel and a university professor, he had to build an extra room on his home for all his books.

He married Grace Jeannette (Ferguson) on August 28, 1954. At his own wedding the only person he really knew was his bride and the preacher whom he met the night before, who was his future father-in-law. He was a devoted husband for 51 ½ years before her passing in 2006. Paul tolerated his 2 sons, but adored his grandsons. He enjoyed mentoring doctoral students, growing tomatoes and green beans in his garden…and lots of them, chopping his own firewood, attending his grandson's hockey games, and taking long walks everyday. Paul traveled all over the world, Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, Japan, Thailand to Russia to Greenland with 20-30 countries in between. He loved showing off the Japanese he learned while living in Tokyo. Paul lived in Springfield, MO for 25 years before he relocated to Colorado to live near his son whom he told several times on the phone.. after all the places he's lived throughout the world, Glenwood Springs was the nicest place he's ever lived.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Jeannette and 10 of his siblings. Left to mourn his passing is his loving sons; Laurin Douglas Lee and wife Janet of Colorado and Jonathan Paul Lee and wife Shannon of Alaska, grandsons; Jason Miles Lee and Jonathan Dmitrii Lee, a sister; Beverly Lee and a brother; Lester Lee.
