Cullen
January 24, 1946 – March 28, 2026
Patrick "Pat" Elliott Cullen born January 24,1946 in Sacremento, California went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 28, 2026, with his family by his side. Pat was son of Jimmie Cullen and Grace Elizabeth Delarm, big brother to Tanalia and Colleen, and brother to half sister Jackie.
Pat grew up and graduated high school in West Plains, Mo. Class of 1964. He played several sports in high school. He had many friends, and years later was still in touch with his buddies from school. He tried not to miss a class reunion.
Pat, met and married, his sweetie Mable Hunter on December 12, 1978 in Springfield, Mo. They had 2 children, daughter, Melissa and son, Charles.
He was strong-willed, witty, had a "I never give up" attitude, always upbeat, thinking positive, was loving, and kindhearted husband, dad, papa, brother, uncle, and friend. Pat's limitations didn't stop him from enjoying life. Always in good spirits, there seemed to be never a dull moment. Pat had an infectious smile, big kind eyes that would just light up seeing the people he loved. He loved his family so much, and his family loved him. Pat was selfless, always thinking of others.
Pat and Mable loved each other unconditionally and made a long life commitment. Pat adored Mable for taking care of him and help raise their kids. Pat would sometimes be his silly self and joke around with Mable, his kids and grandkids. Making silly smiles, being a smarty pants, driving Mable crazy, she would say, but that made them love him even more. That was just dad being dad. Pat attended SCIL with Mable on occasions, went to garage sales with Mable, would ride around town and drop by to see family, made his routine phone calls to family and friends. He loved getting out and having family gatherings. Pat and Mable spent every day of their lives by each others side for 46 years till Mable became ill. Pat and his family was with Mable when they lost her in 2024.
He was a very proud dad and papa. He took pride in assuring his kids and grandkids knew that they were loved, and he was proud of them. Pat and his daughter Melissa shared a birthday and celebrated together every year. She was always daddy's little girl. Pat got the opportunity to coach a baseball team here in Springfield years ago, that Charles his son was on. Pat loved baseball, and this was something they could share, spending time together. He wanted to be involved with his kids as much as he could, and encouraged them to "Do the best you can and that is all you can do." Pat and Mable were proud papa and nanny to 5 grandkids. He made it to most every game his kids and grandkids played growing up, birthdays, and graduation celebrations." He loved seeing his grandkids when they would come to visit. When his grandkids were little they would ride around on his wheelchair. They loved their "Papa".
Pat was a "Big Cardinals fan." Enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals on tv. If he wasn't home to watch, he would be in the car listening to the game on the radio. When Mable and him would go for their drives, where ever the drive would take them. He loved collecting baseball cards, playing pitch, watching westerns, playing chess, and coconut pie.
He loved the Lord and knew Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
Its never goodbye dad, its see you later. We love you dad and mom. Forever grateful spending our lives with you both. Will always be missing you.
