Norman Gray Shryock, 63 of Springfield, passed away on July 2, 2017 peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 2, 1953 in Galena, KS to Jack and Jean Shryock.

Norman began his career in the roofing industry first as a journeyman commercial/industrial roofer for 15 years; then as a salesman for ABC Roofing, Shelter Roofing and SPEC Building Supply. He ended his career as a project coordinator at Kirberg Roofing. Norman was well liked and respected throughout the roofing profession, most notably as a great communicator on a multitude of topics and he always went that extra mile to provide excellent service.

Norman loved his family and was always the first to suggest a visit to his parents and his in-laws. Norman dreamed of building a cooperative living community so that all his family and friends would have a home with them, if the need or desire arose. His dream came true when He and Meg built their dream home together. Norman''s favorite past times were watching his grandson''s sports games, philosophizing, organizing and being an amateur life coach. One of Norman''s favorite memories was a trip to California to purchase a motorcycle from a lifelong friend, Marius Visser, a few years after Marius''s passing. Not having rode a motorcycle in 30 years he joined longtime friend Bill Visser and two others on a ride from California to Sturgis, South Dakota.

Norman was preceded in death by his stepmother, Phyllis Shryock; and brothers-in-law Greg Bartow, Doug Bartow, Thomas Jones and Tom Whitney.

He is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Meg; his sons Norman II, Shawn and wife Deborah Kruse; grandchildren Devin, Drew, Chase, Zackary, and Kyle Kruse. His parents Jack Shryock and Jean Hanley; brothers Raymond and wife Bunny, Kevin and wife Sharon and Randall Shryock and Randy Diehl; sisters Marilyn and husband Steve and Renee Brown; mother in law Meredith Jones; father in law Mickey Bartow; sister in law Laura Whitney-Davidson and a host of nieces, nephews and countless friends. Norman''s kindness, grace, advice, understanding and love will be greatly missed by all whose lives have been touched by his.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday July 8th at 9am at Klingner-Cope Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W. State Hwy EE (Division) Springfield, with a Traditional Baha''i burial to follow at Eastlawn Cemetery, 2244 E. Pythian Springfield. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Haven of the Ozarks Animal Sanctuary, 9617 FR 2190, Washburn, MO 65772.
