Norma Mae Hughes was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. Norma peacefully passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Norma was born to her parents, George and Velma Garrison on Monday, January 11, 1932. Norma enjoyed an adventurous childhood with so many brothers and sisters. Norma married the love of her life, Fred Cleveland Hughes Jr. when she was 18 years old and soon after, had her only child, Jimmie E. Hughes. Norma, Fred and Jim lived in California while Fred was in the Navy for many years. When Fred retired from the Navy, the family moved back home to Springfield, MO to be around family. Norma loved spending time with her family, and spending time in her yard with all her beautiful flowers. Norma even was in the newspaper as yard of the month – displaying the beautiful decorations and flowers, she loved growing and creating!

Norma and Fred moved to the Lebanon area in the 1980's where they stayed for the remainder of their lives. Norma and Fred were married for 43 years, when he passed on February 20, 1993. Norma and Fred loved each other and were a great example to everyone what true love should look like. Norma missed Fred every day since and continued to love her family well. Norma loved being a grandmother! Norma was blessed to have grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren! While she loved her grandchildren – her world was her son. When Jim passed on August 15, 2024, Norma was ready to go home to be with Jim and Fred. While Norma will be deeply missed, she was ready to go to Heaven and be with her husband and son.
