Obituary

Nedra Jeanette Rapp, age 88, of Republic passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022. She was born October 13, 1933 in Des Moines, IA to Vernon T Jones and Velma V (Hakeman) Kelly. Nedra married Stephen Lowell Rapp June 10, 1950. They were married 52 years until Lowell's' death in 2001.

Nedra spent her younger years in Ridgedale and later in Springfield. She attended Central High School. Nedra's step-mother, Lalia Brown Jones was a very good mother to Nedra growing up. She helped shape Nedra to be a wonderful woman, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend. Nedra worked at Zenith in Springfield for 25 years. She became a Hostess at the Devils Pool Restaurant at Big Cedar Lodge and worked there for 10 years.

Nedra was very active. She roller skated up into her 70s and enjoyed skating with her grandkids. Nedra could do about anything. She enjoyed oil panting, quilting and gardening. Nedra was saved at a young age and always helped with church activities. Nedra was a member of Northwest Baptist Church in Springfield where she was very active and helpful. She cooked dinners at the church on Wednesday nights for many years.

Nedra is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and step-mother Lalia (Brown) Jones; her birth mother Velma (Hakeman) Kelly; Nedra's husband Stephen (Lowell) Rapp; her brother Ronald V Jones; step-sister Lawanda (Shipman) McGuire and her husband Mac McGuire; and host of others.

Nedra is survived by her adult children Marla Baldwin, her husband Mike of Nixa, Debra Nordberg of Springfield, Mark Rapp, his wife Janna of Strafford, and Gail Day, her husband Larry of Republic; a sister-in-law Gail Jones of Brighton Michigan.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Klingner-Cope Funeral Home at White Chapel in Springfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 11, 2022 at Northwest Baptist Church in Springfield. Burial will follow the funeral at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Springfield.
