IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Murlin Seith
Carter
October 23, 1933 – February 5, 2024
Murlin Seith Carter (Papie) beloved husband, a loving father, devoted grandfather and great
grandfather, and a Kansas City Chiefs fan, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2024, in Marshfield, MO.
He was born on Monday, October 23, 1933, in Anthony, KS, to his parents R.O. and
Pauline Carter (Haskins). He was raised with his three siblings and graduated from Marshfield High School.
Murlin married his high school sweetheart, Sue, on December 18, 1953, in
Marshfield, MO.
Murlin served in the United States Army as a cook in Germany. After serving his country he
worked at various food distributing companies including Consumers, Taystee Bread, Foremost,
and Hiland before branching out on his own and starting his own food distribution company,
Carter Foods. He ran Carter Foods until he retired.
Murlin loved finding driftwood and knotholes during his hunting trips (although he did more
cooking than hunting on his trips). He enjoyed fishing, four-wheeling, watching football,
woodworking, and spending time with his family.

grandchildren; Wes (Sarah) Cameron, Becky (Joey) Holcomb, Josh (Megan) Holt, and Bridget
Holt, 8 great-grandchildren; Macy Cameron, Connor Cameron, Ella Cameron, Miles Holcomb,
