Obituary

Mildred Lorene Carroll, of Springfield, Mo, was born on October 7, 1927 south of Mammoth Springs, Arkansas and went to her heavenly home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2012. She was the second daughter of Uriah and Ollie Jones.
She attended school at Bald Knob, Arkansas and she and her sister Wilma came to Springfield in 1945 to attend college and start new lives. She went to Draughon''s Business College and then worked for Lawson/Gibbs Legal Office until she married Marion A. "Mac" Carroll in 1948. She worked and retired from Lily Tulip Cup Corporation for 33 years, then became a member of the group "Wilted Lilies", a bunch of retirees that got together and ate breakfast and swapped gossip about their old work place. She attended church at Kansas Expressway Church of Christ for many years and was a dedicated part of the "sewing ladies". They made thousands of items for the unfortunate. She loved the time she spent with these gals and was good at the task of making things. She always cooked and served for anyone in need at the church. Her cooking skills were unsurpassed. She was a dedicated mother to her children, working and volunteering at the Springfield Sheltered Workshop and with Green Valley State School. She chauffeured kids, kept bowling scores, fed meals and gave help to anyone who asked her and some who would not ask. She was always happy, never complaining and seldom asked for help. She loved flowers and gardening and had a house full of plants, truly a green thumb lady.
Mildred is survived by four children, daughter, Karen and Dennis Swanson of Seymour; sons, Marton Carroll and LaRissa of St. Louis; Carey and Perri Carroll of Stockton and Eric Carroll of Springfield; two grandchildren; six great grandchildren and one great great grandson; brothers, Floyd Jones of Halfway and Jerry Jones of Honey Grove, TX; sisters, Bonnie Sanders of Springfield and Edna Munger of Cary, NC and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Marion; sisters, Wilma Witherspoon and Bess Stiles and brother, Joel Jones.
She spent her last four years at Mercy Villa, and was loved by all who knew her, the staff and residents alike. Her smile will truly be missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Villa and her long time doctor, Dr. Teresa Olsen for being her champion for many years. Donations in her honor can be made to Fair Haven Children''s Home, 3132 N. Fair Haven Loop, Strafford, MO 65757.
