Melvin Lewis Ledbetter, 83, was born June 1, 1928 in Willow Springs, MO and passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011. He was the oldest son of William and Thelma Ledbetter, who preceded him in death.
He was married to Verna (Vandiver) Ledbetter, retired as a route salesman for Tom''s snack foods, was an avid reader, a baseball fan and a backyard gardener.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Verna; four children, Karen Pierce and her husband Mark of Springfield, MO; Kathy Johnson and her husband Michael of Kansas City, MO; Michael Ledbetter and his wife Lynne of The Woodlands, TX; Vicky Cowin and her partner Tod Ahrens of Springfield, MO; brother, Robert Ledbetter; sister, Freda Sterling; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 12:00 PM at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W. State Hwy EE (West Division) Springfield, Mo. Graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
