Mayo R. Hanson, 85, of Nixa, MO, passed away in Springfield on Wednesday, September 12, 2012. He was born May 1, 1927 in Tokio, ND.
On January 3, 1950 he married Eleanore Krogstad in Ada, MN. Mayo served in World War II as a Marine and he processed the "Code Talkers." He was a life long member and Past Grand Patron of the Masons, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, lifetime member of Scottish Rite, American Legion, order of the Eastern Star and member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years Eleanore and his parents.
He is survived by sons, Mark Hanson of Velva, ND and Dana (Susan) Hanson of Belleview, Washington; daughter Lesa (Jeff) Campbell of Ozark, MO; grandchildren Danielle and Sara Hanson of Belleview,WA; brother Kent Hanson of Everett, WA; sister Elayne Shuttleworth of Burbank, WA and a host of family and friends.
A visitation will be held Friday, September 14, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine, Springfield, MO. A funeral service with Pastor Katherine O. Hayes officiating will be held Sunday, September 16, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 815 East Plainview Rd, Springfield, MO with interment to follow at a later date in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
