Max J. Knapp, 75, of Nixa and Liberty, MO, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011. His life will be celebrated with a memorial service at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine Ave, in Springfield, MO, at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, September 13. Burial will follow the service.
Max was born on August 31st, 1936, in Derby, KS. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joan Knapp; parents John Noah and Dollie Knapp; and a brother Eddie Knapp.
He is survived by his children and spouses Kurt and Tracy Knapp of Ozark, MO, Dale and Janet Knapp of Kansas City, MO, and Kim Biery of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren Brett Biery, Megan and Tim Ritter, Michael and Jamie Biery, Amy Knapp, Jacob Knapp, Tammy Biery, Hannah Knapp, Josh Knapp, and Joseph Knapp.
Max graduated from Bentley High School in 1954, marrying his Jr. High and H.S. sweetheart, Joan Durham, and shared an amazing 48 years together before her passing in 2004. A loving and devoted Husband, Father, and Granddad, he will be missed greatly by family and friends alike. He was a radio mechanic at TWA for 30 years, and loved working outdoors, but mostly just loved Joan and his family. Flowers or cards may be sent to the funeral home.
