Obituary

Mary I. West, 77, of Springfield went to be with the Lord on November 12, 2015.
Mary was born on October 1, 1938 in Springfield to Charles Marion Farr and Freda Mary Smith Eakins. She was married to her soul mate, William
Truman West for nearly sixty years, where they raised six children together. Mary wrote regularly for Springfield Mountaineer Magazine, Route 66 Magazine, Mature living Magazine, an international Baptist publication, and a number of other publications and anthologies; and she was a winner of numerous literacy awards. She joined the Missouri Writers'' Guide and Springfield Writers'' Guide in 1988; she also held offices in both. Mary was also a member of Missouri sate Poetry Society. She received the Honorary Life Member award from Springfield Writers'' Guide in 2009. Mary often used her writing to encourage laws and rulings for the protection of children.
She is preceded in death by her soul mate, William Truman West, her parents, Charles Marion Farr and Freda Mary Smith Eakins, and two great-grandchildren, Austin Vanvig and Haden McCoy,
She is survived by her children: Daughters, Theresa Burden and Ramona Gunselman and her husband ,Mark; sons William Wayne West and his wife Kathy, Joseph West, Jack West, and Richard West; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Klingner-Cope at Midtown from 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday, November 14, 2015 with the funeral services to follow.
Memorial Donations maybe made to The Boys and Girls Club of Springfield.
