On October 26th of 2017, Mary "Louise" Macom, 87, of Springfield went to be in His glorious presence. Louise was born February11, 1930 to Dave and Sena Layton in Hollister, Missouri.
On November 12, 1948 she married Russell Macom. And together they shared 55 wonderful years of their life until Russell passed in 2003. In those 55 years they had two wonderful children, Debbie Moore and Cathy Raper.
Lousie was a guiding force in the public gardens of the area for over 40 years. She served as the president of the Hillbilly Gardeners, the Springfield Federated Garden Clubs, Botanical Society of Southwest Missouri. Louise co-founded the Lilly society and the Iris society. She was also a Federated Garden Club Show judge. And in 1980 Louise became a driving force behind the creation of the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Gardens. She designed, raised funds, organized and worked to make what seemed like an impossible dream come to reality.
Louise was blessed with many talents and interests. She was a wonderful artist, an amazing cook, a creative seamstress and decorator. She was adventurous and had traveled the U.S. with Russell. She and her daughter Debbie went to Europe and she later visited Japan, which influenced her designs at the Japanese Stroll Garden. In her earlier years she loved to go with her family to the cabin at the lake to water ski.
Her doggie companions were precious to her. She was a wonderful, generous lady. Louise''s life made this Earth a more beautiful creation.
Louise is survived by her daughter Cathy and husband David Raper, Grandchildren: Greg and wife Shannon Raper, Jabe and wife Nikki Moore, Nicky and husband Joey Addison, Great grandchildren: Cory and Brandy Raper, Pheobe Addison, Jewel, Evey & Arian Moore; Special Sisters-in-law: Barbara Herd, Veda Huston, Retha & Edward Minor, Mary Layton and many more nieces, nephews and countless friends. Louise will be greatly missed by all whose life was touched by her.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents Dave and Sena Layton, her husband Russell, her daughter Debbie Moore and son-in-law Harold Moore, Brothers: Dean, Richard and Dale Layton.
Family will receive visitors from 1 to 2 pm on Monday October 30th, 2017 at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home Chapel, 4500 S Lone Pine Springfield, MO with her Funeral Service to follow at 2 o''clock. Burial will take place privately in Rivermonte Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
