Mary York (Jewell) York's Obituary
Mary York, 92 of Springfield, was born on October 7, 1924 in San Antonio, TX to Raymer and Fransis (Bigger) Jewell. She passed away on October 31, 2016.
She married Ralph York in San Antonio, TX in November 1969 and enjoyed 18 years with him till his passing in 1987. She was an avid bridge player, volunteered with the VFW, was an AARP rep, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a silvered haired legislator.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter, Sherrie Michelle Rode and her sister, Dorothy Jane Matthews.
She is survived by her daughter, Arithia (Richard) Knox of Springfield, MO; son, William Jewell Shelton of Owensboro, KY; 3 grandchildren, John (AdriAnn) Rode of Ava, MO, Nichole (Darren) Evans of Owensboro, KY, Corey Shelton of Owensboro, KY; 4 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 4, 2016 from 10 till 11 am at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine Ave, Springfield, MO with service to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children''s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the College of the Ozarks, https://cofo.webconnex.com/donate.
