Mary Jo Hixon, 85, of Springfield, Missouri, was born October 22, 1936 to John  Bales and Anna K. Bales (Steelman) in Springfield, Missouri. She passed away on May 18, 2022 in Springfield, Missouri.
Mary Jo grew up in Springfield. After she graduated from Saint Anne's High School in Springfield, she went on to study general education at Southwest Missouri State University. Next, she attended Kansas City Art Institute for four years where she majored in fine arts. She married Howard Sharp in 1960. They resided in Naples, Florida and Canada. Later, she married Bill Hixon and was widowed in 1975.
Mary modeled in her early years. She enjoyed cooking and even went to France to learn gourmet French cuisine. Mary was a devoted Christian that loved her Lord. After living in Florida for a number of years, she returned home to Missouri. She started to sell insurance, raise commodores, grew closer to Jesus and became highly involved in natural health. In her later years, she became a microscopist. She helped so many with her gifts surrounding natural medicine.
Mary Jo is survived by her daughter Anna Sharp; grandchildren, Kelly Anderson, Sunny Anderson, Gina Sharp, Howard Sharp III and Phillip Anderson; many great-grandchildren; nieces Janis McGill and Cathy Young. She is preceded in death by her parents, all brothers and sisters, two husband, and two children, Mark Anderson and Howard Sharp II.
A visitation will be held Friday, May 27th, 2022 10:00 to 11:00am at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W. State Highway EE (Division), Springfield, Missouri.
