Mary Jo Hemphill, 76 passed away November 28, 2014 in Springfield, MO. She was born June 2, 1938 in Gore, OK to John and Lady (Sparks) Crutchfield.
In high school, Mary Jo was a honor student and a competitive athlete. She carried her competitive spirit throughout her life. Most of all, Mom enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow up. She took great pride in all of their school academic and sports achievements.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Gene Hemphill; her parents; 2 sisters, June Luttrell and Patricia Crowson and 1 brother, Luther Crutchfield.
Mary Jo is survived by her 3 children, Rod (Tina) Hemphill, Debbie (Mike) Wheeler and Dee (Scott) Bailey; grandchildren, Heather Taylor, Ryan Pace and Paige Hemphill, Sydney and Seth Wheeler, Dana and Danielle Bailey and Brianna Hemphill, 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Lynda (George) Simmons and brothers, John (Dean) Crutchfield and Richard (Pam) Crutchfield.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 3 at 2 PM in the chapel. Burial will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
