Mrs. Mary Geneva Cochrun, age 97, of Springfield, Missouri, peacefully passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Maranatha Village in Springfield, Missouri.

Mary Geneva Cochrun (née Loveland) was born on April 5, 1929, in Bruner, Missouri, to Aaron and Lula Loveland. She was blessed with two brothers, Junior and Jerald.

Geneva attended a one-room schoolhouse in Bruner. Her love of reading and academic aptitude allowed her to advance to second grade while still in first grade. She graduated from Sparta High School in May 1946.

As a young woman, she met “that man” who would later become the love of her life and her husband of 66 years. Geneva and Alferd Cochrun were married on June 29, 1946, and together built a life centered on faith, family, and service. They were blessed to have two children, Teresa and Steven.

A lifelong member of the Assemblies of God, Geneva faithfully served her church through her ministry of caring for babies and toddlers in the nursery. She found great joy in nurturing young children and sharing Christ’s love through her gentle and compassionate spirit.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alferd Cochrun; her son, Steven Cochrun; her parents, Aaron and Lula Loveland; her brother, Junior Loveland; and several beloved aunts, uncles, and extended family members.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Shaw; her daughter-in-law, Ruth Cochrun; her brother, Jerald (Noreen) Loveland; her sisters-in-law, Mary Agloro and Gloria Kreinbrook, her grandchildren, Melanie (Bob) Chavez, Richard Rippetoe, Nicole (Travis) Shockey, Eric (Rhonda) Thompson, Rod (Jessica) Cochrun, and Adam (Cassie) Cochrun; 15 great-grandchildren; two step great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

The family would like to recognize her special friend, Brenda Decker, whose friendship, support, and companionship were a blessing to Geneva, especially following the loss of her husband and son.

Geneva will be remembered for her unwavering faith, gentle spirit, and deep love for her family. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially reading, spending time with loved ones, and caring for others. Her home was a place of warmth, encouragement, and acceptance, where family and friends always felt welcome. Through her example of kindness, humility, and steadfast devotion to God, she leaves a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire generations of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with those she loved and is now at peace in the presence of her Savior.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 South Lone Pine Avenue, Springfield, Missouri.

Graveside burial services will immediately follow at Sparta Cemetery, 6889 MO-14, Sparta, Missouri.
