Obituary

"Go rest high on that mountain, Son your work on earth is done."

Mark Lynn Luttrell passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the age of 63.  At the time of his death, Mark was a patient at St. Louis University Hospital, having suffered from several health issues over the last few months.

Mark was born in Marshfield, Missouri, on July 7, 1960, to William Chester and Ruth Mae Luttrell.  He lived in the Springfield and Branson areas all his life.  He graduated from Hollister High School in 1978. His father performed with Presley's Country Jubilee in Branson for many years, and Mark worked there as a parking attendant.

Mark loved the Lord and was a faithful servant.  He was attending Springfield First Free Will Baptist Church at the time of his death.  Mark was a devoted son.  After his father's passing in 1995, Mark cared for his mother until her death in July of last year.

Mark liked chasing trains.  He was a big fan of Frisco and BNSF Railroad operations.  It wasn't a surprise to see his car parked along Division Street by the Springfield Railroad Yard.  He also enjoyed working in the grocery store where he met lots of people from across the Springfield and Strafford areas.  Mark was a Dillon's employee for around 20 years and worked for Harter House in Strafford for 8 years until health issues forced him to retire.  He enjoyed visiting with regular grocery store patrons when he would run into them while out to dinner with friends.  Mark came from a very musical family. He played the guitar like his dad and uncles.  He loved country and gospel music and loved going to shows in Branson.

Mark is survived by several extended family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his half-brother Donald, his grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Life will be at 10:00 A.M Saturday, April 20, 2024 in the Klingner Cope Funeral Home White Chapel: 5234 W. State Hwy EE Springfield, Mo. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Council of Churches in Mark's memory.

A special thanks to Mark's good friend Ken Sweetser and his pastor Charles Horton.  Thank you for being there for him by calling and visiting and advocating for him through those very difficult weeks and months.  It meant a lot to him.  Mark had such great neighbors.  Thanks for visiting and checking on him and keeping an eye on things while he was away from home.  Thank you to everyone for the many prayers lifted in his behalf.
Mark went through a lot the last few months.  While we grieve his passing and will miss him,  we have peace knowing that he is with his heavenly Father,  healthy and whole,  reunited with his parents and brother.

His lord said to him, "Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.' Matthew 25:23
