Obituary

Marjorie M. Absher-Covert, age 99, of Kimberling City passed away at home Thursday, August 18, 2022. She was born February 16, 1923 in Mt. Grove to Virda and Oliva (Lemons) Woods.

Marjorie grew up in Mt. Grove on the family farm. She was the first to open a drug store on the square in Mt. Grove. It had a pharmacist, an ice cream soda counter with tables and chairs and many other asundries for daily living. Marjorie owned and operated Sun Valley Farms in Springfield. She bread and raised American Saddlebred show horses. Horse owners from everywhere took their horses to her farm to bread their horses with her famous stud horse. Marjorie's farm was open 24 hours a day for anyones horses arriving or leaving the farm.

Marjorie had the energy of three people. When work needed to be done she would often times do it her self. When a farm hand left she would take over their duties. Marjorie never sat still. She was either traveling the world or doing projects in her many social connections. She was active until her last days.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Bob Absher.

Marjorie is survived be her husband Gary Covert; a son Gary Absher of Branson; and a daughter Kay Absher of Cape Fair.
